It's official, Warner Bros. announced that The Matrix will have a fourth installment in the series. Started in 1999 with The Matrix, the movie became a trilogy with The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. While the three movies were box-office successes, the last two movies received a lukewarm response by critics, many complaining about the heavy focus of the films in the underground city of Zion.
Lana Wachowski will write, produce and direct The Matrix 4. "I’m very happy to have these characters back in my life and grateful for another chance to work with my brilliant friends," Wachowski said in a release.
Both Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will be part of the film, reprising their role of Neo and Trinity, in a possible reset of the Matrix. Didn't the architect warned us about it?
Keanu Reeves being on a constant series of blockbuster successes (John Wick 3, Toy Story 4) and The Matrix being a highly known franchise, it is only logical that the studio wants to give a fourth chance to the series.
