Jussie Smollett, the actor mostly known for his work on the series "Empire", has been hospitalized after being apparently attacked as part of an alleged hate crime.
On Tuesday at around 2am, two men allegedly "yelled out racial and homophobic slurs" and "poured an unknown chemical substance on the victim," police said. One of the attacker also put a rope around his neck, still according to the police.
Smollett portrays Jamal Lyon, a musician on the FOX series. Like his character, Smollett identifies as gay, although he does not openly talk about his sexuality, which he says is a private matter.
Hopefully, the actor is reported to be in "good condition."
