July 17, 2020: The Next Christopher Nolan Movie!
January 26, 2019 by Jack Anderson
Every movie from Christopher Nolan is a groundbreaking event. The last one was Dunkirk, which was released in July 2017. Now, Warner Bros. has announced that the next film from Nolan will be released on July 17, 2020.
As of right now, there is strictly no other information on the project, aside from the opening date and the fact that the movie will be, according to the studio, "an event".
Christopher Nolan has become a cult filmmaker over the years, with a filmography mostly made out of very positive to ecstatic reviews. Like a Swiss clockwork, the director has been releasing a film every two to three years, as you can see below. This time will not be an exception.
2005: Batman Begins
2006: The Prestige
2008: The Dark Knight
2012: The Dark Knight Rises
In his already impressive career, Christopher Nolan directed thrillers (Memento, The Prestige), a War film (Dunkirk), a Space movie (Interstellar), a superhero trilogy (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises) and more. Therefore, the big question is now what will be the genre of his next film? Nolan being a very eclectic director, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him directing a film in a totally new genre.
The director is often compared with Stanley Kubrick, who also directed films with similar genres. Could his next project be a History movie, like Spartacus? Or an adaptation of a classic novel such as Lolita? Or actually, could it be a horror movie such as The Shining? What is certain is that we should get the answer very soon.
