A washed up singer is given a couple days to compose a chart-topping hit for an aspiring teen sensation. Though he's never written a decent lyric in his life, he sparks with an offbeat younger woman with a flair for words.

Guilty pleasure with a great soundtrack!
By Jack Anderson on October 7, 2019

A decade ago, I was starting to date my current girlfriend and when she came into my car, the music automatically started to play. The track was from the soundtrack of Music and Lyrics. I immediately tried changing the song, being totally ashamed of this song, but my new girlfriend instantly recognized the music and told me she loved the film!

Fast-forward, I hurt my hip yesterday and suffer quite a bit. Of course, my girlfriend, instead of being scared for me, laughed at me and told me I hurt my « pop hip. » A day after, we re-watched Music and Lyrics and I can easily say this film is a small guilty pleasure. A typical romantic comedy in New York with Hugh Grant playing Hugh Grant.
But the movie is clearly fun and even though not amazing, clearly much enjoyable.

Also, the pop soundtrack is just wonderful.

I give it 6 out of 10. Very good. And yes, I know all the songs by heart.
