Not fully working, but fun
By Jack Anderson on October 28, 2018
I am not a big fan of such movies. Movies on actors are usually quite bad and self-centered. I really hate watching a movie with scenes where we see movies being made.
But here, it is done with care and even though the beginning of the film is not great, the more it progresses, the better it becomes. Until it ends very badly.
Marion Cotillard is hi-la-rious. From the moment she starts speaking with an accent from Quebec, I really laughed out loud. Sure, maybe it lasts for too long, but it was really, really funny.
The reason I watched the film was only because of Johnny Hallyday. I watched many times that famous scene when Guillaume meets Johnny in the middle of the night. That scene is really amazing. Johnny is stunningly perfect and it makes for a very powerful and emotional scene, looking back.
NOT QUITE WORKING
Unfortunately, overall, the movie is not striking every single chord. And the ending is really, really bad.
The movie is not always working, especially in the beginning. Also, it is way too long and would have been better if it was shorter. But overall, it is fun. I give it 4 out of 10. Average.
