Hachi tells the true story of a dog that each day waited for his master at the railway station. When his master passed away, the dog kept going to the railway station for almost a decade.
The adaptation is done without any risk and is a clear example of a family movie. This is one of the safest movies I've ever seen. How can you not fall for Hachi? The dog is so overly cute that not liking him would be simply impossible.
Still, let's be honest here, the acting is really not good (Richard Gere is really an awful actor) and the small town with everyone smiling is really cliché.
I give it 5 out of 10. Good.
This movie is wonderfully written, it's one of my favourite films and I cry each time. Based on a true story of devotion the dog keeps going back to the train station to meet his owner who had a heart attack and died so is obviously he is not coming back, he becomes the train station mascot and people raise funds to help look after the welfare of the dog. it's lovely but you will need plenty of soft tissues to wipe away the tears. It's a classic.
