After the very pop two parts albums La Tentation du Bonheur and Le Bonheur de la Tentation, I was expecting a new album with the same construction. I must say that I was really surprised by the trip hop musical genre of the album. After the very classic style of the previous two albums (guitare, battery, chorus, etc.), this album is a drastic change. I remember not really liking most of the album, except the final title Les Fastes de la solitude.
I remember that at the time, my stereo system was broken and I had to listen to the album on a very tiny stereo system. And then I copied the album on a MiniDisc and was going to the studies while listening to the album. And the more I listened to it, the more I started to appreciate the very complex musical arrangements. One can only appreciate an artist trying to create new things and not doing always the same thing all over again.
A different album but still a great one. I give it 8 out of 10. Superb.
