Not as great as Stade de France
By Jack Anderson on October 27, 2018
Only Johnny could gather more than half a million person to a live concert in front of the Eiffel tower! This live album is quite similar to the previous one, at the Stade de France. The tracklist is not very different, but this time, we get some great additions following the album Sang pour sang:
- Vivre pour le meilleur,
- Sang pour sang,
- Quelques cris.
Unfortunately, the duo with relatively unknown Sonia Lacen on Vivre le meilleur does not work to me. I think she tries too much and doesn't deliver. Meanwhile, I think it would have been great to have Johnny singing Sang pour sang with his son David Hallyday.
There is an interesting duo with the Rita Mitsouko. But it does not work so well either. Also, at the very beginning, the singer of the Rita Mitsouko mixes up some lyrics.
ODD INSTRUMENTAL MEDLEY
At one point, there is a very, very odd and annoying musical medley. First song? James Bond title... Second? Mission: Impossible. At least the third one is musically more interesting (Peter Gunn), but it would have been much much better to have instrumental versions of songs from Johnny, such as the outstanding intro from "Que je t'aime" in the Stade de France live concert.
A similar tracklist than the previous live album at the Stade de France, but definitely not as great. Still, an excellent concert. I give it 7 out of 10.
